"Good is the enemy of great." Jim Collins "Good to Great"

The Gospel is Matthew 25: 14-30

Noted Harvard business professor and author, Jim Collins, made that argument in his famous book amongst business leaders. If you settle for good, you will never be great.

The question then is, what is enough? Perfection? Who is perfect?

The saying goes, "Practice makes perfect."  But does it really? Professional athletes who train all the time ALWAYS get it right? Professional musicians who play all the time NEVER hit a sour note?

The answer is, maybe they didn't practice enough? So what is enough?

If those that do it all the time, and get constant coaching by experts and surrounded by others who are also striving all the time- if they can't be perfect...

Now apply that to faith.

Am I faithful ENOUGH?

Am I good ENOUGH?

I hear that so many times from people nearing the end of their lives.  Would God accept them knowing that they weren't good ENOUGH?

<GRACE!!!!>

We are called in faith to discipleship, to be a student, to practice. We also need to remember that practice makes progress! There is value and meaning in walking the talk, working it out, striving and learning. Notice though that we practice with what we have been given, not with what we are trying to gain or acquire. We take what is given us to use.

The talent is given...will we use it, or will it stay buried unused somewhere?

 May you take your God-given talents and blessings, and find ways to use them!
