Have you ever had unsalted salt?

(Read Amos 5: 18:24 and Matthew 5: 13-17)

There are lots of salt free seasonings out there, but how about salt without salt?

That sounds like an impossibility, doesn't it? I know we have salt substitutes and sugar substitutes, but it is not salt or sugar.

It might have some properties LIKE salt or sugar, but it is still NOT salt or sugar.

Jesus tells us we are the salt of the earth. He then comments that salt that is no longer salt is no good. He calls us light, and then challenges us to let that light shine and not hide it under a basket.

Amos calls out the people about their worship, and their actions.  He challenges them to look at what they do, and calls them out to let justice and righteousness flow.

In short, be salt!  Be light! Let justice and righteousness flow!

Jesus tells us that he came to fulfill the Law and the Prophets.

Love your neighbor as yourself fulfills that, and he calls us, commands us to do the same.

How might you be salt, let light shine, and help justice and righteousness flow for your neighbor?
